The Birdhouse Nature Store is a small, independent birding and nature shop based in Brighton, Ontario built on curiosity, kindness, and a lifelong love of wild birds.
We believe birding should feel calm, joyful, and accessible. You don’t need to know all the bird names. You don’t need the “perfect” backyard. You just need a little curiosity — and the right support.
How The Birdhouse Found Its Way Home
Owner Bobbi Wright grew up in the Quinte and Northumberland area, spending many of her early years in Brighton. Life took her elsewhere for a while — music theatre, raising two daughters, writing and publishing a children’s book — but the pull to come home never really left.
In 2017, during a time of major life change, Bobbi jokingly said out loud:
“Wouldn’t it be awesome if a place like The Birdhouse came up for sale?”
Not long after, it did!
Between unexpected signs (including several very persistent birds), perfect timing, and a lot of courage, Bobbi took over The Birdhouse later that year. What followed was a period of growth, relocation, and eventually a true homecoming.

Our Home Today
Today, The Birdhouse lives at 82 Main St., Brighton, tucked behind a heritage home known as The Doctor’s House. The shop sits at the rear of the property — just head up the driveway and you’ll find us.
Bobbi and her husband Andrew live on site with their family, which includes:
- Three golden retrievers (Sadie, Fergus, and Finnegan)
- One very opinionated cat (Phoebe)
The dogs often greet customers at the dutch door, and Phoebe regularly supervises the front desk. Extra love is included — just ask.
